New What's On listing magazine for Cambridge to launch in October
Published: 26th July 2011.
FLACK is a social enterprise preparing to launch a new monthly what’s on magazine for Cambridge in October. It will be light on adverts and full of the kind of events that can be hard to find out about, from films and free lectures at the universities to open-air tai chi, live music, stand-up comedy, car maintenance courses and even left-handed ukulele workshops. The enterprise is run by a devoted team of volunteers, many of whom are currently homeless. FLACK is a registered charity and offers its volunteers professional training and creative support. To find out more about the enterprise and how to include your listings check out the FLACK website.
FLACK began in response to the needs and aspirations of homeless people in Cambridge. Its Creative Director (Kirsten Lavers) was initially involved in a project - The Willow Walker which was as an in-house magazine written by homeless people. FLACK has developed through a process of research and direct consultation with homeless people and organisations/professionals who work alongside them.
Look out for the first issue in October!
