Wysing Arts Announces Latest Show - The Influence of Furniture on Love
Published: 17th July 2014.
What effect can our furniture and belongings have on our souls?
That is the question being asked by Wysing Arts Centre’s next exhibition, The Influence of Furniture on Love.
The show, which will run from September 14 – November 2, will be based in the gallery’s 17th century, Grade II listed farmhouse, built from timbers salvaged after the sinking of the Spanish Armada in 1588.
It’s name comes from a 1909 unpublished essay by economist John Maynard Keynes, a handwritten copy of which can be found in King’s College’s archives.
The farmhouse usually houses artists-in-residence, but Wysing has invited regular contributor Giles Round, to transform it by installing works by artists who have lived and worked there over the years.
Quirky ceramics and colourful prints will feature.
The exhibition will also involve a series of dinners, hosted by showcased artists, so members of the public have the chance to see behind the scenes and get stuck into arts discussions that usually take place behind closed doors.
There’ll be events, performances and screenings to enjoy too.
