Make:Shift is the Crafts Council’s new biennial conference launching 20-21 November 2014 at Ravensbourne: Higher Education Institution.
It is one of three core components of their innovation programme, alongside a series of partnership projects and Make:Shift:DO - a public programme of open events and workshops.
The conference will explore how advances in materials, processes and technologies are driving innovation in craft practice and creating new opportunities for makers to contribute to innovation in other sectors, including science, engineering, technology, manufacturing and medicine.
Bringing together makers, researchers, leading specialists, practitioners and experts across sectors, the event will consider current and future thinking on the role of craft in 21st century production.
Centred around three key themes; Materials, Making and Tools, the conference will ask questions from a variety of perspectives on the current and future contexts of craft in relation to new materials, new technologies, collaboration and innovation. To view the full programme, please click here.
Comprised of a combination of active panel discussions, presentations, in-conversations, and participative sessions, the event will discuss current perceptions and new questions, speculate on future scenarios, and share thinking on how we might work together in the future unknown.
